The Great Wall of China is world’s largest construction projects ever completed and is extended across the huge mountains of northern China. This remarkable construction is around 5,000 km in length and acquires thickness from 4.5m to 6m. While when it comes to its height, it’s up to 25 feet (7.5) meter tall. This ancient great wall was actually built of wood, earth, grass, and stone.
While Greek writers were scratching their works onto rough papyrus and farmers tilled rocky fields with wooden plows, Chinese historians brushed court records onto fine paper and farmers turned their soils with plows of iron. While Romans set tables of roughhewn linen and crude glassware, Chinese homes were graced with porcelain and fine silk.
Today, Western technological know-how and factory efficiency flow into a rejuvenated China creating startling contrasts - skyscrapers rise above carpets of rice paddies; Harry Potter DVDs arrive to marketplace in donkey-drawn carts. And so continues this rich interchange of knowledge and discovery between China and the West.
