Amazing Borobudur in Indonesia

Borobudur is a ninth century Mahayana Buddhist-monument in Central Java, Indonesia. This temple consists of six square platform upon by three circular platforms, and are decorated with relief panels 2672 and 504 statues of Buddha . A main dome, located in the center of the platform above, surrounded by 72 Buddha statues seated inside perforated stupa. .

The monument is both a shrine to the Buddha and a place for Buddhist pilgrimage. Travel for pilgrims begins at the base of the monument and follow the road around the monument, climbing to the top through the three levels of Buddhist cosmology, namely Kamadhatu (desire world), Rupadhatu (world of forms) and Arupadhatu (formless world). During the journey the monument guides the pilgrims through a system of stairs and corridors with a 1460 story on the wall relief panels and balustrades.

Borobudur has since been preserved through several recovery. The biggest restoration project carried out between 1975 and 1982 by the Indonesian government and UNESCO, the following monuments listed as UNESCO World Heritage Site . Borobudur is still used for pilgrimage; once a year Buddhists in Indonesia celebrate Vesak at the monument, and Borobudur is a tourist attraction Indonesia's single most visited.
