Grid Connection for New Russian Reactor

The second reactor of Russia’s Volgodonsk Nuclear Power Plant is now in the adjustment process into the regional electricity network, which reaches 35% of generating capacity. This reactor is set for commercial operation by the end of this year.
The 1000 Mwe reactor operation started in the morning, January 21, 2010 and the reactor reached a minimum level of control power (about 1%) on the next day. The power gradually increased to reach 35% capacity, a stage where nuclear power plants capable of producing enough steam to run turbines and so capable of running in the normal mode of operation.

Head of Russia's Nuclear Regulator Rostekhnadzor , Nikolai Kutyin, said on a visit to the site that the reactors was ready to be connected to the grid. He added that the conditions of the license for the construction of Volgodonsk 2 have been met and there is no infringement on the Russia’s nuclear energy regulations.
The reactor was connected to the United Energy System (UES) grid in a ceremony attended by Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin. And it now adds an additional 300 MWe of power to the region.

Earlier this week, a team of international experts began to conduct pre-operational review of Volgodonsk 2 for the sake of the World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO). The team will look at operational areas include: organization and administration, maintenance, technical workers, radiation protection, training and experience on staff and fire safety.
The Volgodonsk plant is better known as the Rostov. Four 1000 MWe VVER pressurized water reactors were planned in the early 1980s and some construction done before the work was completed.
The construction of Volgodonsk 1, which is also V-type VVER 320 began in 1978 and operating in March 2001.

Frazer-Nash Helps Horizon Advance British Plans

July 16, 2010

Horizon Nuclear Power has provided to the Engineering Consultant Frazer a five-year framework contract for the provision of regulatory and licensing services related to its plans to build new nuclear power plants in the UK.

Horizon is a 50-50 joint venture between RWE nPower and Eon UK. This company has purchased land for the construction of new nuclear power plant at the existing location at Oldbury, Gloucestershire and Wylfa located on the Isle of Anglesey. Both the locations have been identified as a suitable place for the construction of nuclear power plant. This indicated the draft National Policy Statement on nuclear British government announced in November 2009.

Horizon proposes to build the first reactor at Wylfa, which will be operational in 2020. Application development planning at Wylfa is scheduled for the year 2012, and will be followed by a planning application for a second nuclear power plant in the Oldbury , after Wilfa construction begins. However, the progress remains adjusted in the right market conditions, especially those associated with more certainty about the price of carbon. Last Horizon expects to be able to reach 6600 MWe of nuclear generating capacity in both locations

A business manager at Frazer-Nash, Paul Deeran, said that his company has a significant role in developing of the next generation of nuclear power stations in England.

John Baker, head of regulatory and licensing in the Horizon, commented that the location permit is a prerequisite for developing a capacity of about 6000 MW by 2025.

Meanwhile, Horizon has not decided yet which of the two available reactor designs it will be built. Areva EPR and Westinghouse’s AP1000 are involved in the Generic Design Assessment process, to get the decision to build in June 2011. Both the companies have been involved in a competitive bidding process that will decide the winner at the end of the year.

I don’t Walk to Get Recognition

As usually, my senior blogger friend, Brian Gardner, told us an interesting story as I re-written below.
On August 6th of 2010, I will once again lace up my shoes for the Chicago Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk, and start an emotional journey that will take me 60 very long and grueling miles. This walk will be hot, this walk will be painful. There will be sweat, and there will be tears.

By the time that you finish reading this, two more women will be diagnosed with breast cancer, and another one just died from it. In fact, while I am walking those 60 miles, 110 women will die from this horrible disease. 110 families will lose a mother, or a daughter, or a best friend.

That is why I walk. I don’t walk to get recognition. I don’t walk because I want people to think of me a hero. I walk so that a little girl can grow up and spend time with her mother. I walk so that a mother can watch her daughter walk down the aisle at her wedding. I walk so that I don’t have to console another friend while a part of her life was taken too soon. I walk because I am physically able to, while others are not. I walk because I have been given so much, and I want to give back as much as I can.

I walk, because I cannot walk away… and when my time on earth comes to an end, I want everyone to know… I was here…

'UFO' Spotted Over Australia Recently

An eerie spiral light show in the pre-dawn sky over Australia recently. The bright sky spiral appeared before sunrise on Saturday over New South Wales, Queensland and the Australia Capital Territory (ACT), with witnesses describing it as a "lollipop-type swirl," the Australia Broadcasting Corp. (ABC) reported.

"The spiral looked like a bright light shining through some clouds in a spiral shape, except the edges of the spiral were very sharp and defined unlike what a cloud might look like," Baden West, who snapped photos of the spiral before it faded from view, told SPACE.com in an e-mail. "It was also very large, much bigger than any photo makes it look and in terms of brightness. It looked like it was about as bright as a full moon but all the light was coming from a much smaller point."

One witness, James Butcher of Canberra, told ABC that the spiral light appeared to have a yellow hue. Another skywatcher described the sky apparition as a "huge revolving moon" , according to ABC.

A Legend From Island of “Paradise” Bali

Once upon a time, in the kingdom of Daha lived a Brahmin named Sidi Mantra who had a very famous miracle. “Sanghyang Widya” Guru rewarded him property and a beautiful wife. After years of marriage, they had a child named Manik Angkeran.

Although Manik Angkeran was a clever and handsome young man, but he had a bad habit . He like gambling . He often lost, so he had risked his parents' wealth, even in debt to others. Unable to pay the debts, Manik Angkeran asked his father to do something in order to get the wealth. His father then fasted and prayed for help of the gods. Suddenly he heard a voice, "Hi, Sidi Mantra, in the crater of Mount Agung there is a treasure of a dragon which guarded the Dragon named Besukih. Go there and ask for him to give you a little treasure."

Then Sidi Mantra went to Mount Agung. He overcomed all obstacles. Arriving at the crater’s edge of Mount Agung, he sat cross-legged. He rang the bell while he read the spell and summon the dragon Besukih. Not long later; then the dragon came out. After hearing Sidi Mantra’s wish, Dragon Besukih squirmed and from his scales he sprayed out some gold and diamonds. After thanking the dragon , Sidi Mantra went home . He gave the treasure to Manik Angkeran, while he hoped that his son would not gamble again. But unfortunately, the treasure was gone again for a bet. Once again Manik Angkeran asked his father for assistance. However, Sidi Mantra was angry and refused to help his son..

Manik Angkeran heard from friends that the property was obtained from Mount Agung. He knew to get there but he didn’t know to she cast a spell but he never learned about the prayer . So, he just brought a bell that was stolen from his father when his father slept.

On the crater of Mount Agung, Manik Angkeran rang the bell . The Dragon heard Manik Angkeran’s intent, then he said, "I will give property you wish for, but you must promise to change your bad ways. Do not gamble again. Remember the law of karma !"

Manik Angkeran fascinated by gold, diamonds, and jewels in front of him. Suddenly there was malicious intent that arises in his heart. Wanting to get more treasure, he cut the dragon’s tail when Dragon Besukih went back to his nest. Manik Angkeran ran away immediately and was not overtaken by the Dragon. But due to the miracle of the Dragon, Manik Angkeran had been burned into ashes when the dragon licked his tracks.

Sidi Mantra heard about the death of his son. Soon he visited the Dragon Besukih and begged him to bring back his son to life. The Dragon agreed by condition if his original tail could return to normal. With a miracle, Sidi Mantra can restore the Dragon tail.

At home Manik Angkeran apologized and promised to be a good person. But when Sidi Mantra knew that his son had repented his bad habit, he was very angry.

"You have to start a new life but not here," he said. Suddenly his son disappeared . Where Manik Angkeran stood , a water source arose increasingly large that became a new sea. With his stick, Sidi Mantra had drawn a line that separated him with his son. Now the place became a strait that separates the island of Java and Bali .

Fantasyland is classic Disney created by Walt Disney. Most of the attractions in Fantasyland are based on popular, time-honored Disney animated feature-length movies: Snow White's Adventures, Dumbo the Flying Elephant, Pinocchio's Daring Journey and Peter Pan's Flight are but a few examples. Fantasyland is also home to Tokyo Disneyland's most popular attraction, Pooh's Hunny Hunt.

In 1983, Disneyland in California opened a dramatically redesigned Fantasyland. Fantasyland in Tokyo Disneyland is something of a mix of the old and new from that Fantasyland. Attractions at Tokyo Disneyland like Dumbo, and the facades of many of the attractions like Peter Pan are of the old style, while the most the interiors of the attractions are very similar to the newer versions at Disneyland in California.

Tokyo Disneyland's Fantasyland has gotten some recent face-lifts of its own. Alice's Tea Party was relocated and give a more attractive design, and the beautiful Queen Of Hearts Banquet Hall was opened, replacing the not-so-exciting Small World Restaurant with what has turned out to be one of the best restaurants in Tokyo Disneyland.

Although it doesn't quite have the quaint charm of its California counterpart, Tokyo Disneyland's Fantasyland still lives up to its name as a land of fantasy.

The New Wonderful Disney Dream

Disney Cruise Line continues to disseminate information about the new cruise ship under construction. The new ship is named Disney Dream.
This Disney's new ship has been built more than 10 years. With 128 000 tons weight, Dream will include 14 decks and carry up to 4,000 passengers in addition to 1 480 officers and crew. In a style that is genuine Disney, the ship will feature the latest art technology so that guests will find an unexpected miracle throughout their voyage.

Part in the ship cabins are equipped with display screens, or "virtual peepholes" that will present the views of the real from the outside that provided by high definition cameras that are placed on the outside of the ship. Animated fairy tale characters also will appear from time to time.

AquaDuck will be the first water coaster in the cruise industry. AquaDuck is a tool that will create an exciting high-speed ride through the channel which shows the velocity, the acceleration is like climbing a hill and rolled in heavy rapids of the river-rafting. All of these sensations can be felt on the deck of the vessel. At one point, you're gliding 13 feet above the ship's side that allows you to look down into the ocean below 150 feet.

When tourists enter the Animator's Palate restaurant, they will find a room like an art studio decorated with character sketches, colorful stencil drawings and oil paintings. During the meal progresses, the images on the LCD screen mounted on the wall varies, showing views of the region which appears as the underwater world. The Crush, the turtle who loved the audience from the movie Finding Nemo, will swim around the screen and seemed to be involved with the guests in a live conversation. While Crush moving around the restaurant, the other characters from the film come too joined him, including Dory, Nemo, Squirt and Bruce.

Throughout the ship you will find framed LCD screens that come to life as guests walk by. Part of the Enchanted Art experience on the Disney Dream includes an interactive detective game where a special card allows guests to peer behind the virtual canvases to discover clues. You play the game at your own pace to solve the mystery. The game offers six potential villains, and the outcome will be different each time you play.

Disney's children club will feature an inter-active play floor as well as large screens where popular Disney characters come to life and interactive with the kids.

Amazing Borobudur in Indonesia

Borobudur is a ninth century Mahayana Buddhist-monument in Central Java, Indonesia. This temple consists of six square platform upon by three circular platforms, and are decorated with relief panels 2672 and 504 statues of Buddha . A main dome, located in the center of the platform above, surrounded by 72 Buddha statues seated inside perforated stupa. .

The monument is both a shrine to the Buddha and a place for Buddhist pilgrimage. Travel for pilgrims begins at the base of the monument and follow the road around the monument, climbing to the top through the three levels of Buddhist cosmology, namely Kamadhatu (desire world), Rupadhatu (world of forms) and Arupadhatu (formless world). During the journey the monument guides the pilgrims through a system of stairs and corridors with a 1460 story on the wall relief panels and balustrades.

Borobudur has since been preserved through several recovery. The biggest restoration project carried out between 1975 and 1982 by the Indonesian government and UNESCO, the following monuments listed as UNESCO World Heritage Site . Borobudur is still used for pilgrimage; once a year Buddhists in Indonesia celebrate Vesak at the monument, and Borobudur is a tourist attraction Indonesia's single most visited.
